O.P.I Soft Natural Shades Review

~ O.P.I ~
Natural Shades Review

I have selected 5 soft natural shades that I love and use on my myself and my clients to review and to compare against each other.
From left to right: Bubble Bath, I Theodora You, Glints Of Glinda, Barefoot In Barcelona, Tickle My France-Y

Bubble Bath - This is a lovely classic natural shade which I use a lot, you can probably tell from the bottle were the label has started to wear off! It has a creamy look with a hint of pink in it and looks great with just one or two coats on for a bare natural look. I use this for everyday wear and with all O.P.I products, it dries really quick too!

I Theodora You - A truly gorgeous light pink! I searched through a lot of O.P.I pink shades before I came across this one from the 'Oz collection'. Like the Bubble Bath shade this one is also quite creamy but has a slightly stronger pink tone. It has a lovely 'jelly' look finish to it and great coverage, with only one or two coats needed.

Glints Of Glinda - This shade is a fantastic sheer nude. Comparing this one against the pinky tones of 'Bubble Bath' and 'I Theodora You' this has a more beige apricot tone.
This particular nail polish is also from the 'Oz collection and set to be a favourite for winter /fall 2015 along with 'Samoan Sand', which is also a neutral beige.

Barefoot In Barcelona - This is one of my favourite original classics. O.P.I describe this as 'A luscious nude shade with a Spanish "Sole". It has great coverage and looks lovely with just one coat for a natural look. It is a slightly darker beige nude shade with a warm creamy finish to it, which I love!

Tickle My France-Y - A lovely warm neutral shade which O.P.I describe as a 'naughty shade of nude'! It has great coverage and looks great with 2 coats applied. It has a creamy finish and looks great for everyday wear. Comparing this one against 'Barefoot in Barcelona', it definitely has a warmer pinky tone to it.

The above photo is with all five shades applied using 2 - 3 coats so that it is easier to differentiate between each one. I have used 'Bubble Bath on my thumb, 'I Theodora You' on index finger, 'Glints Of Glinda' middle finger, 'Tickle My France-Y on ring finger and 'Barefoot in Barcelona' on my pinkie finger.

I have also done a little bit of nail art using 'Glints of Glinda' for you to see how that looks.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my review and found it helpful when choosing between these particular shades. Thank you for visiting my blog and happy nail art designing x

Going Geometric

Colourful Geometric Nails

With inspiration taken from July/ Aug 'Nail It!' magazine, I thought I would try out a geometric look for my nails this week.
There are lots of different ways you can achieve this style for example:
  • pre-designed foils so most of the hard work is already done for you and you would just need to add some shaped embellishments.
  • Geometric stickers on top of your chosen bright nail polish base.
  • Free hand designs.
  • Marbling.
  • Nail stamping your design on to a bright nail base colour.
Here is my finished design done completely by hand with no pre-designed stickers or foils.

For my main base colours I used, O.P.I - Alpine Snow (White), O.P.I - Ridiculously Yellow, Ciaté - Cha Cha Cha (Orange), O.P.I Nicōle - Spring Break (Hot Pink), O.P.I - Lady in Black and Sapphire Blue from the Nail Supreme nail art pens. To finish off my design I used geometric neon shaped embellishments and then O.P.I Top coat to complete the look.
I have also spotted other designs in some Japanese nail magazines that are based on the geometric look which might give you some inspiration for different styles.

I hope this has given you some inspiration if you are look to do your own colourful geometric nail styles and thank you for checking out my blog too!

Ciaté London Mini Limited Edition Give-away

Ciaté London Mini
Limited Edition 80's Movies Collection

Reader Offer - Marie Claire Aug 2015

Marie Claire are featuring a Ciaté mini nail polish freebie in August magazine for every reader. Each pack is named after an 80's movie come with a 'black light' top coat too so it's well worth picking up a Marie Claire for this nail polish give-away. They also had a promo running for 25% off on all nail shades, textures and treatments online at ciatelondon.com but this ended on the 6th Aug.

I managed to get a really bright summer shade in the 'Flashdance' pack. This bright orange shade is called 'Cha Cha Cha'. There are 6 shades to collect altogether which include:
Silver - 'Back to the Future', Pale Pink - 'Dirty Dancing', Pale Purple - 'Heathers', Peachy Pink - 'Pretty in Pink', Nude Brown - 'Ghost' and Hot Orange - 'Flashdance'.

As the article mentions these nail polishes are pigment-packed and you get a lovely coverage with just one swipe. The polish is also self-levelling so will smooth over any ridges.

I tried out 'Cha Cha Cha' and was really pleased with the results. The nail polish is really glossy and gives a jelly like wet look finish. It is hard wearing and also dries really super quick too! Here is my little mani with the end results.

Nails Supreme ~ Nail Art Pen Kit Review

Nails Supreme
Professional Nail Art Pens

I have been given a set of Nail Supreme design pens as a gift and to review. I have been using them for a while now so thought it was about time I shared my thoughts on this set of nail art pens.

Nails Supreme offer a matt and a metallic pack, each kit contains 10 colours in the form of 5 inter-connecting duo pens. Each pen is double ended which can be detached from the middle to use singularly or to swap round your chosen colours, making it easy to put in your handbag or take on your travels.

The matt pack contains the following colours: Purple / Royal Blue, White / Black, London Pink / Canary, Silver / Gold and Crimson / Forest Green.

The pack I am reviewing is the metallic kit, which contains the following colours: White / Summer Plum, Pink Pear / Tangerine, Shocking Pink / Gun Metal Grey, Meadow / Shimmering Sea Blue and Sunflower / Sapphire Blue. I also received an added white pen (see front pack picture above) with an inter-connecting barrel of rhinestones to finish off your nail art design.
Each individual pen has a brush and a micro-pen for very fine detail. Every pack contains 10 colours, 1 design / instruction leaflet and a cleaning pin.

To apply, you simply unscrew the lid to reveal the brush for applying a base coat and pull the lid to reveal the micro designer pen nib. The nib part can achieve very fine lines and by slightly squeezing the tube, you can apply a thick line if needed.
So far I have really enjoyed using these nail art pens and would definitely recommend them. I have used other nail art pens and found them to be either messy, colours not intense, not a consistent flow of liquid or after a few uses they dry up and you can't open the lid any more! Well, I haven't had any of these issues with these pens! They are clean to use and the flow of liquid is great. They dry really quickly too so you can layer or overlap colours if required with no drag from the underneath colour with the nib.

I use the nib part of the pens a lot more than the brush mainly because I love using O.P.I polishes as my base and then designing with the nail art pens. A few times I have used the brush part to apply a base if I have had to be somewhere pronto with no nail polish on and they have dried so quick!

I have included a few pictures of some of the designs I have done. Actually designed with my left hand even though I am right-handed, so not my best work but just to show how easy it can be to do nail art designs with these pens for beginners through to advanced levels.
Hearts designed with pink pear, gun metal gray, shimmering sea blue and white

Fine line bow design achieved with white nib.

Shocking pink brushed on base with white dot design.

Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you have enjoyed my review. 'Happy nail art designing'

'Eternally Turquoise' OPI Review & Everything Blue

'Eternally Turquoise' - O.P.I
Infinite Shine 2 Review

I have been on the hunt for that perfect turquoise nail polish and I absolutely love this one!
This is quite a thick nail polish to apply and you only need one or two coats for full coverage. Plus it has a lovely jelly finish to it as well, which I love and dries within a reasonable time limit. As long as you give it time to dry and apply a top coat, it's quite long lasting. I wore this polish for over a week with no chips and it still look great, only took it off to try a different shade out. Looks fab on your toes too and such a great colour for summer!

I bought this for £8.45 including p+p from a seller based in London called 'lookingunique'. They also sell O.P.I gel polish and CND products and offer free p+p via ebay and also have a main website you can visit with many more different products including hair products such as 'Kerastase' and GHD plus tanning products. You can find them on ebay at: http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/lookingunique or on their main website: http://lookingunique.com/

Everything Blue

Whilst we are on a blue / turquoise theme, spotted a couple of nail articles in
July's Scratch magazine that I thought I would share.

Thanks for checking out my blog, hope you enjoyed my little review of another
O.P.I product x

OPI 'I Theodora you' - Oz Collection

'I Theodora You' - OPI Review

'Oz - The Great and Powerful collection' by OPI

This nail polish shade is absolutely gorgeous... it's my new favourite colour! I have been searching for a creamy light pink shade and this one is perfect. It is quite a soft pink not overpowering and can be worn for everyday wear.

It is part of a collection which features 7 shades: 'What Wizardry Is This?' golden brown shimmery colour, 'Lights of Emerald City' white square confetti, 'Don't Burst My Bubble' sheer white creamy polish with a very light tint of pink, 'When Monkey's Fly' gold shiny confetti, 'Glints of Glinda' a lovely light creamy beige and an all time classic, 'Which is Witch' gorgeous sparkly silver iridescent.

I love this shade so much, thought I'd do a summery accent nail, featuring lovely iridescent sparkles with a cute alloy bow! 'When Monkeys Fly' or 'Which is Witch?' are also great on top of this nail colour and to use for an accent nail or full coverage.
